Five questions Meghan and Harry must answer after bombshell new trailer – Prince William ‘lies’ to ‘gaslighting’ claim

NETFLIX has dropped the latest explosive trailer for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s docuseries.

The couple talk about “institutional gaslighting” in a teaser that hints at yet more trouble for the Royal Family.

The Duke and Duchess have delivered a series of shock “truth” bombs in their new Netflix series

But as they tell their ‘truth’ there are questions the couple are still to answer in the last three episodes of their £88m series.

The pair have already dropped several shock claims that may well forever fracture Harry’s relationship with his relatives, including allegations he was “brought up” by a “second family” in Africa, and details of Meghan’s “jarring” meeting with Kate Middleton.

Meghan was also accused of derision when she mocked curtseying to the Queen as Harry sat stoney-faced beside her in the first drop of three programmes.

As viewers gear up to watch the last episodes, here are five questions the couple must answer in the final instalment.

WHAT ‘LIES’?

Harry claims ‘they’ were ‘willing to lie’ for his brother – but has not yet revealed what the ‘lie’ was about

In the teaser trailer Harry says: “They were happy to lie to protect my brother, they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us.”

But what is the lie relating to Prince William?

As Harry throws shade at his brother, viewers will want to know what Prince William did wrong (if anything) and why it was covered up.

Harry first revealed problems between him and William during the 2019 documentary, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey.

He said they are “certainly on different paths at the moment” and “inevitably stuff happens”, but that “we are brothers, we will always be brothers”.

On the same tour, Meghan appeared to criticise the Royals with her comment “not many people have asked if I’m okay”.

During the famous Oprah interview, Harry claimed he felt sorry for William and King Charles because “they don’t get to leave” the institution.

This latest claim will surely do little to mend the rift.

Author Tom Bower reckons the Netflix show will ‘destroy’ the brothers

After firing a series of broadsides at brother William, Harry has not yet said whether he still wants a relationship with him – or the rest of the Royals.

If he indicates William has something to hide in Thursday’s episodes it’s unlikely the siblings will ever be close again.

Author Tom Bower, who wrote the book Revenge about Harry and Meghan, said the Duke’s “treacherous collaboration” with Netflix had “destroyed” the brother’s relationship.

But a source told The Telegraph that William, who looked after Harry when their mum died, remains protective of the Duke of Sussex and won’t allow a bad word to be said about him.

WHO ARE ‘THEY’?

Confusion reigns over two different versions of subtitles on the Netflix show promos

Meghan and Harry refer to “they” a lot throughout the series but it’s not always clear who “they” are.

In the new trailer Harry says “they were happy to protect my brother” – but Netflix has muddied the waters over who the Prince was referring to with two different versions of the promo.

One version, on the Netflix website, carries subtitles which simply references “they”, but on Twitter it says Harry is yet again aiming his ire towards the British media.

Harry also makes the claim he and Meghan were victims of gaslighting – but it’s not clear who they are accusing.

WHY DID THEY FLEE?

Harry’s “freedom flight” features in Thursday’s upcoming show

Harry and Meghan say they quit the Royal family to forge a life of their own but it remains unclear why they left when they did.

In the trailer Harry is seen grinning on a plane talking about his ‘freedom flight’ but the couple later complain about their security being pulled.

Is there a specific reason they left when they did? Why did they not sort security when they left?  Harry dramatically says: “I wonder what would have happened to us had we not got out when we did.”

The Netflix plug also wrongly hints that the couple had their security pulled before Megxit with Meghan saying: “Our security was being pulled – everyone in the world knew where we were.”

As Royals the couples were protected by a steel ring of security and tight press regulations whereas in America they have been targeted by paparazzi and The Celeb Report told earlier this year of  breaches at their Californian home.

WHY WAS FOOTAGE OF DIANA’S INTERVIEW USED?

Harry allowed Netflix to use the controversial footage of his late mother’s Panorama interview

Prince William called for a ban on his mum’s famous Panorama interview after journalist Martin Bashir was found to have used “deceitful behaviour” to get Diana to open up.

The Beeb vowed it would “never show the programme” again or “licence it in whole or part to another broadcaster”.

It’s understood Netflix was not given permission to use the interview.

Yet Prince Harry allowed the streaming giant to carry two clips, justifying their use saying: “I think we all know that she was deceived into giving the interview. But at the same time she spoke the truth of her experience.”

In the 1995 interview, Princess Diana spoke about “three people” in her marriage as her husband carried on his affair with the now Queen Consort Camilla.

Prince William is likely to be unhappy about the use of the footage as he made it very clear his mother’s interview should “never be aired again” after Bashir spun a web of lies to secure his scoop.

THE FROGMORE QUESTION

The couple were pictured at Frogmore when they returned to Britain for the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations

A staggering £2.4million of taxpayers money was spent renovating Frogmore Cottage.

Prince Harry paid back the cash after public outcry when he and Meghan left Britain but it’s still the couple’s official Royal residence.

They have been allowing Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank to stay there.

Meghan says in the new teaser that leaving the UK for their £11m Montecito mansion gave them “a chance to create that home we always wanted” – begging the question what was wrong with Frogmore after the pricey renovation.

There is also a question over whether the pair left the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations early to pose for a Netflix photo shoot with their kids at Frogmore.

Pictures in the trailer show them in the cottage garden despite missing the Jubilee Pageant and late Queen on the balcony.
