It was the second major flood caused by dodgy plumbing this year.

The 65,000 tonne ship was due to sail to America to train with F-35 jets but the voyage had to be cancelled while engineers fix miles of high voltage cables.

Defence Minister Jeremy Quin said the repairs would cost £3.3million.

Another £2.2million is being spent on fixing leaky pipes on HMS Prince of Wales and her sister ship HMS Queen Elizabeth, to stop it happening again.

*Stephen Morgan, Shadow armed forces Minister, said: *“We all want to see HMS Prince of Wales operational again as soon as possible.

“It’s vital that our nation’s military assets are ready to face whatever comes.”
