PRINCE WILLIAM is second in line to the throne, and older brother to Harry, Duke of Sussex.
But how old is he, and what did he look like when he was young?
How old is Prince William?
Prince William is 40 years old, while younger brother Prince Harry is 37.
The Duke studied at St Andrews University in Scotland, before joining the RAF and training as a helicopter pilot.
He then went on to work as a search and rescue pilot from 2009 to 2013, when his service with the Armed Forces came to an end.
When is Prince William’s birthday?
Prince William was born on June 21, 1982, and Harry on September 15, 1984.
Both boys were born at at St Mary’s Hospital in London.
Their parents are Prince Charles and Princess Diana, who died in 1997.
The Queen‘s official Royal Family Instagram account shared a message to mark his 40th in 2022.
It said: “Happy 40th Birthday to The Duke of Cambridge!
“Prince William Arthur Philip Louis is the elder son of The Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales. He was born at 9.03pm on 21 June 1982, at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London.
“A bulletin, placed on the gates of Buckingham Palace announced that he weighed 7lb 1 1/2 oz.”
The post included snaps from across the 40-year-old’s life, including a heart-warming picture of William struggling to hide a smile while in 2006 while passing out of the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, as his grandmother the Queen inspects him.
His father and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall took to their official Twitter account to send their best wishes to the Duke of Cambridge too.
Sharing pictures of Wills with his father, they said: “Wishing The Duke of Cambridge a very happy 40th birthday!”
How tall is Prince William?
The Prince stands at 1.91m tall – which is just under 6ft 3inches.
Younger brother Harry is just a touch shorter at 1.86m – 6ft 1inch.
Prince William’s wife Kate Middleton measures up at 1.75m – 5ft 7inches.
What did Prince William look like when he was young?
As a toddler, Prince William had blonde hair which became darker as he got older.
During his teens and in early 20s, he had thick hair brushed forward.
He met Kate at St Andrews in 2001, but the pair didn’t start dating until two years later.
Before university, he was educated at the Jane Mynors’ nursery school, followed by Wetherby School – both of which are in London.
Wills then attended Ludgrove School in Wokingham.
For secondary school, William took an entrance exam and was admitted to Eton.
There he studied Geography, Biology and History of Art at A-Level.
