Royal Visit to Colombian School
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry engaged with Colombian schoolchildren during their tour in Colombia, where they spoke about their son Archie. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex participated in various activities during their visit to a school in Bogota, the capital city.
Celebrating Colombian Culture
At Colegio La Giralda, students welcomed the royal couple with traditional Colombian performances and gifts for their children, Archie and Lilibet. Meghan Markle even conversed with a student in Spanish, noting their similarity in age to her son.
Engagement with Students
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle interacted with the students, with Harry practicing his Spanish and engaging in conversations with the children. The couple also received personal letters and drawings from the pupils.
Visiting School Facilities
During their visit, Harry and Meghan explored the school's historical memory museum, where students commemorate past conflicts through art. The couple also visited the school's mental health and wellbeing facilities, witnessing students' meditation techniques and emotional balance exercises.
Environmental Initiative
Harry and Meghan also planted trees in the school's garden, highlighting the importance of appreciating nature and acknowledging Colombian farmers. The garden, established in 2020, aims to educate students about environmental conservation.
Royal Transition
Having stepped back from their royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan no longer undertake official overseas visits on behalf of the UK Government. Their Colombian tour has been described as a DIY royal visit, organized alongside Vice-President Francia Marquez.
