PLATINUM Jubilee viewers all had the same complaint as they slammed the ‘abysmal’ Beacon Lighting show.
Thursday saw the start of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations with Trooping the Colour and a magnificent fly past at Buckingham Palace.
In the evening, Kirsty Young hosted a two hour programme which featured highlights from earlier in the day and footage of beacons being lit around the world to mark the Monarch’s 70 year reign.
After showing clips from the likes of New Zealand, Australia and Pakistan, Kirsty also linked to correspondents around the UK in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
Meanwhile live on set, she was joined by Gloria Hunniford, Julien MacDonald and Lulu.
The trio spoke about their own experiences meeting the Queen as well as their first memories of her.

However, some viewers at home felt like too much screen time was dedicated to the celebrity guests instead of the many beacons being lit all over the country.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “Well, the #BeaconLighting coverage was abysmal. Wanted to see more of Hadrians wall and other places around the country.
“Instead we had Lulu dominating everyone and wittering on about nothing for most of the show. Hoped #BBC would have done better.”
Another added: “Disappointing coverage from #BBC for the #PlatinumJubilee#BeaconLighting event.
“The show mainly talked to celebrities guests who appeared on the show, only showed small amounts of coverage of beacon lighting, during this special historical event for the UK.”
Another tweeted: “Was it supposed to be on BBC ? #BeaconLighting Seemed to have 2 hours of gassing… and barely any #Beacons being lit ?”
Meanwhile a fourth shared: “I would’ve loved to see more beacon lighting on this BBC beacon show. And not the flipping Lulu show. #BeaconLighting.”
