Prince Andrew 'Allowed' to Stay at Royal Lodge After Striking Deal with King Charles

Prince Andrew has reportedly reached an agreement with King Charles that allows him to continue staying at his Royal Lodge home, according to reports. Earlier this year, there were rumors that Charles wanted Andrew to leave the property, but it seems they have resolved their differences.

Stay of Execution

Andrew, who no longer has official duties, currently shares the sprawling 30-room mansion in Windsor with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. However, Charles supposedly wanted Andrew to move out in an effort to downsize the monarchy. After a meeting at Balmoral at the end of the summer, it appears that the prince has been granted a "stay of execution," as reported by The Mirror.

Repairs and Subsidy Cuts

The Royal Lodge home is in need of an estimated £2 million in repairs, with Andrew reportedly paying £200,000 for roof repairs this year. It was previously revealed that Charles was cutting the £250,000 subsidy Andrew received from Queen Elizabeth, making it difficult for him to afford the running costs of the property.

Possible Plans for the Future

In the past, it has been suggested that plans to remove Andrew from the Royal Lodge were made to allow Prince William and his family to eventually move in. Charles has even suggested that Andrew should consider moving to nearby Frogmore Cottage, which was previously occupied by Prince Harry and Meghan.

Prince Andrew's Controversial Past

Prince Andrew's reputation has been marred by his association with the late Jeffrey Epstein. He was forced to step down from royal duties and faced accusations from Virginia Giuffre, who claimed he slept with her when she was a teenager. Andrew denied the allegations and reportedly paid a £12 million settlement to Giuffre.

The Guardian has reached out to the palace for comment.
