A CLOSE friend of Princess Diana believes she would never have let Prince Harry take part in his bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Dr James Colthurst, 64, features in upcoming ITV documentary, Diana, and reflects on his 20-year friendship with the Princess of Wales.
He told Radio Times he was convinced she would have stopped Harry and wife Meghan from sitting down with the chat show queen for the highly divisive talk.
Dr Colthurst said: “I’m not sure he would have got to the interview stage.
“I believe she might have cautioned him beforehand to solve things in some other way.”
He also agrees with Prince William that the controversial Panorama documentary of 1995 should never be shown again.
It follows revelation that disgraced Martin Bashir gained the one-on-one interview at the heart of the show by spooking Diana with forged documents.
Dr Colthurst added: “It was created in a devious fashion, and I don’t think it needed to be that way.
“So yes, it should be put away.”
