WHILE it might be expected that the royals go on flashy holidays abroad, this isn’t always the case for some of the younger members.
And there is one spot in the UK which Prince William and Kate Middleton often visit, and have done for the past two years for their family holiday.
Located in Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly is a favourite with the royal couple when going on holiday with their kids George, Charlotte and Louis.
They even visited in 2020, after being spotted biking on Tresco Island – a fellow holidaymaker who saw the royals at the time told The Celeb Report: “We hardly noticed at first as they seemed a normal family on holiday intent on keeping themselves to themselves.
“The place where they were staying was quite modest and certainly not hugely luxurious.”
It isn’t clear where they were staying but there are a number of choices on the islands for families tempted to visit for themselves.
Tresco Island, which is inhabited by 150 people, has a number of cottages and apartments on the island, while neighboring island Bryher has Hell Bay hotel which has a luxury spa and suites costing £310 a night.
Found on the biggest of the Scilly Isles, St Mary’s, the Star Castle Hotel dates back to the 16th century with amazing stargazing views from inside the fortress.
Tresco has nearby pubs and restaurants including the Flying Boat Bistro and The New Inn – and during the pub lockdown last winter, the Isles of Scilly were the only place you could get a drink for New Year.
The islands even have a mild climate all year round, so you can expect nice weather even later into the year, with Appletree Bay beach having white sands similar to the Caribbean.
It isn’t the easiest to get to the Isles of Scilly – you can get there by ferry or by air, with the royals expected to have flown by helicopter.
Boats to Tresco run twice a day from St Mary’s and Bryher, or twice a week from St Martin’s and St Agnes.
They also aren’t the first royal parents to take their kids there – Prince Charles and Princess Diana took both William and Harry to the islands in 1989.
And even the Queen has opted for a UK holiday for years – choosing her Balmoral Estate in Scotland every summer.
