The Repair Shop: Who is Kirsten Ramsay?

KIRSTEN Ramsay has more than two decades of experience restoring damaged items and has built up an impressive reputation as “the queen of the invisible fix.”

She’s become a firm favourite among fans of The Repair Shop, which is back for an eighth series on BBC One.

Who is Kirsten Ramsay?

Kirsten Ramsay studied at West Dean College of Arts and Conservation in Chichester, before nabbing a job in The British Museum’s conservation department after graduation.

Eventually, however, the star decided to strike out on her own and set up a private conservation business of her own in Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex.

It was whilst she was working to build her studio that she was reached out to by studio execs.

Kirsten revealed that she was astonished that a broadcaster would be interested in restoration: She said she feared it was a wind-up: “Restoration has always seemed rather niche and nerdy – I couldn’t believe that there was going to be a mainstream programme showcasing the skills of a team of restoration experts!”

Despite her doubts, Kirsten agreed to join the show and hasn’t looked back since.

Kirsten revealed that the team is a “wonderful community” and that she thinks that they are “hopefully making a small difference to the people that come through the barn doors.”

Is Kirsten married and does she have any kids?

Kirsten prefers to keep her personal life private and, as a result, we don’t know if she’s married or if she has any children.

The only time she’s referred to her personal life on-screen was when she met a man who was looking after his toddler granddaughter after his daughter tragically passed away.

Kirsten was sent to examine a teapot that had been passed down through generations and found herself deeply affected by the man’s story.

She revealed that the tragic story had “knocked her sideways” and added that she had had “some sort of personal experience of that myself.”
