SHOPS, attractions and theme parks are all closing their doors on Monday due to the Queen’s funeral taking place.
Preparations are now underway for the Queen’s state funeral, which will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday, September 19.
Most theme parks will be closed on the day of the Queen’s funeral
The day of the funeral has been officially declared a bank holiday.
Most theme parks and attractions have confirmed they will be closed on the day of the Queen’s funeral.
This also includes some of the overnight accommodation and theme park hotels.
Here are the latest statements from the UK’s popular attractions.
Alton Towers
“Following the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II, Alton Towers Resort joins millions of mourners around the UK and the world in paying tribute.
“To mark the passing of Her Majesty the Queen, and to allow our guests and employees to pay their respects, we will be closing the resort on Monday 19 September and reopening on Tuesday 20 September.
“Our resort accommodation will close on the evening of Sunday 18 September and re-open on Tuesday 20 September.
They also told guests: “If you are due to stay with us on an Alton Towers Resort Short Break, this does mean that we will have to cancel your booking, and a refund will be issued in the next 14 days.”
Thorpe Park
“To mark the passing of Her Majesty The Queen and to allow our guests and employees to pay their respects, we will be closing the Resort on Monday 19 September.
“Our Thorpe Shark Cabins will be closed on 18 and 19 September.
Drayton Manor
“Following the confirmation that the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II will take place next Monday, we have taken the decision to close the theme park on that day to allow our guests and staff the opportunity to reflect and pay tribute.
“We apologise for any disappointment caused to guests planning to visit and appreciate their understanding during this period of national mourning.”
Legoland
“As a mark of respect for HM The Queen’s State Funeral, the Resort will be closed on 19 September 2022.
“This includes the hotels on 18th and 19th. This will allow staff and guests to pay their respects to Her Majesty.
“If you are visiting us on this date, the team will be in touch via email about your visit. We appreciate your understanding at this deeply sad time.”
Paulton’s Park
“Paultons will be closed on Monday 19 September to give both our guests and staff the opportunity to mark Her Majesty’s passing on the day of the Queen’s State Funeral.
“If you have already booked tickets or an official short break for this day you will be contacted shortly.”
Most of the parks will reopen on Tuesday 20 September
