Ralph Ineson claims permanent shoulder damage after battling ogre in Disney+ show
Ralph Ineson, known for his role as the sexist sales rep Finchy in The Office, is suing Disney for £150,000. The actor claims he suffered permanent shoulder damage while filming a Disney+ sequel to the 1980s film Willow. Ineson was dressed as a knight in armour and fighting a nine-foot ogre called The Scourge when he fell awkwardly, according to his lawyers. He alleges that he dislocated his shoulder after catching his foot on a flight of steps, and the resulting injuries prevent him from taking on physically demanding roles.
From The Office to Harry Potter and Game of Thrones
Ineson, 54, rose to fame as the crass Chris Finch in the BBC sitcom The Office, starring Ricky Gervais. He has since appeared in various roles, including Amycus Carrow in the final two Harry Potter movies and Cleftjaw in Game of Thrones. The actor suffered his injury in July 2021 while filming a night shoot for an episode named The Gales at Dragon Studios in Bridgend, South Wales.
Claim: Faulty set led to the accident
In legal documents filed with London's High Court, Ineson's barrister claims that the accident was caused by a faulty set. The fake foam gravel on the steps was not properly raked due to filming deadline pressure, which obscured the steps and led to the actor's fall. Ineson allegedly felt immediate pain but remained silent to avoid ruining the shot. He waited until the end of the shot before speaking up about his injury. Disney has not yet provided a defense against the claim.
