The resurfaced clip shows Titchmarsh making the controversial comment during a sit-down interview with Jill Dando. He says, "Ladies who say, 'It's much harder for us in broadcasting...' And I keep thinking, 'Absolute nonsense, I mean then if you're a good-looking woman then it's not difficult. It is easier.'" Dando, however, challenges his viewpoint, stating that people expect more from women.

Outrage over 'outdated' views

Viewers have expressed their disappointment and anger at Titchmarsh's remarks, labeling them as "outdated" and "appalling." Some fans even mentioned that his comments have made him their "new sworn enemy." Many were particularly shocked by his opinions, suggesting that they were unacceptable both then and now.

Backlash against former BBC producer

Alongside Titchmarsh, fans also took issue with former BBC producer Bob Wheaton for his comments about Jill Dando in the same documentary. Wheaton's remarks, including telling Dando she looked "regional" and pressuring her to change her appearance, were heavily criticized. In 2013, he claimed that older women working in television should stop complaining about being passed over for jobs, as it was easier for them at the start of their careers. The Netflix series, titled "Who Killed Jill Dando?," explores the murder of the well-known broadcaster. Dando was tragically killed by a single bullet in 1999.
