CHANNEL 4’s Alone saw Eva reduced to tears as she killed a duck to survive.
The brand new series continued on Sunday night as viewers caught up with the contestants.
Eva was faced with a moral dilemma
It sees 11 brave contestants dumped in the wilderness, battling it out with their environment to survive for the longest period of time.
Tonight’s episode saw the cast struggling to fight off hunger, with most of them enduring several days with little to no food.
But Eva, 25, who is a NHS project manager, was faced with a huge moral dilemma.
The rock climbing, hiking and wild camping lover was faced with having to kill a duck to eat – despite being a vegetarian.
Eva had to make the difficult decision to kill the duck when it got caught in her net whilst fishing.
Chatting about her beliefs earlier in the episode, Eva revealed she chooses to not eat meat or fish as she does not agree with factory farming.
However, she acknowledged that she may have to eat fish to survive and would on a “needs” basis.
She also noted the disconnect between what people eat and how it is killed.
Eva, who was starving after consuming little to no food, eventually decided to kill the duck.
The high-intensity task left her in tears though ,as she was clearly disturbed by the savage moment.
Clearly emotional, Eva could be seen sitting down and crying after securing the catch.
Later on though, Eva cooked and enjoyed the duck and admitted she felt differently, stating that if people caught their food like she had, she would understand the novelty of eating meat.
Channel 4 viewers flocked to social media to share their reaction with one stating: “The producers definitely put that duck in the vegetarians gillnet.”
Another added: “I would absolutely die of starvation because I don’t think I could kill a duck.”
The Alone cast are dropped in the remote wilderness and tasked with fending for themselves whilst being completely alone.
Dubbed “the most extreme survival show on TV”, Alone is filmed in north-west Canada, and the contestants are equipped with a handful of basic tools.
They are also challenged with filming their own adventure, as there are no camera crew, producers, or experts to help them.
The last person standing will bag the £100,000 prize fund.
