Axed Love Island star Haris Namani’s dad defends him – insisting ‘he’s not a bad boy’

HARIS Namani’s dad has insisted he’s “not a bad boy” after footage emerged of him knocking a lad out.

The Love Island star, 21, was filmed punching a man twice, while being egged on by the person behind the camera – and has now lost his place in the villa.

Hi dad, Mehedin Namani, has now spoken out to defend him and revealed the altercation took place two years ago with the pair are now pals.

He told MailOnline: “This happened two years ago. They’re friends, they shook hands. This was a long time ago – it’s nothing.

“He’s not a bad boy, he’s got a good record. He’s been brought up in the right way.  This is just people who are jealous and they want to put him down.”

Mehedin added: “The kid who Haris punched is okay with with him now. It was a misunderstanding at that time. If you were speak with the kid who it was, the kid would not have anything bad to say about Haris.”

Boxer Haris, who has already been involved in a fiery exchange in the villa with Shaq Muhammad, was filmed fighting after a boozy night out.

In the distressing short clip, his victim is left reeling after being punched in the face before Namani follows up and knocks him down with a second.

Yesterday we told how he had since been dumped from the Island – in scenes that are set to air this evening.

The exit takes place during a planned dumping as newbies Jessie Wynter and Aaron Waters are tasked with sending home a boy and a girl out of six Islanders who have been left at risk after the public vote.

A source said: “Haris was booted off Love Island last night.

“There was a dumping and he got the chop.

“It is, in part, a relief for the show’s bosses in light of the video of Haris in a street fight.”
