BBC Breakfast fans celebrate presenter shake-up as host makes long-awaited return

BBC Breakfast fans were left delighted on Sunday as a fan-favourite presenter made their comeback.

Popular broadcaster Luxmy Gopal, 31, hosted the BBC show alongside regular weekend anchor Ben Boulos, 39, in a show shake-up.

Luxmy teased her latest BBC Breakfast stint on her Twitter page as she uploaded a snap showing the pair in the new-look studio.

It showed her flashing a beaming smile as she cozied up by her co-host.

In her caption, Luxmy wrote: “Rise and shine sleeping beauties!

“Good morning from a reflective @BBCBreakfast studio with me and @BenMBoulos.”

Fans were quick to celebrate her return, with one writing: “Good morning Luxmy hope you are well great to see you back presenting BBC Breakfast alongside Ben have a lovely day take care xx.”

A second quipped: “A ray of sunshine on a gloomy day.”

A third mused: “Always great to see you on the sofa,” as one put: “Luxmy Gopal is a great presenter shame she’s not free Monday to Wednesday.”

Just last year, Luxmy stole the show during her stint on the sofa – which left fans calling for her to be a permanent host.

She also left fans giggling as she cheekily poked fun at her co-star’s outfit live on air.

In the early days of her career, Luxmy worked as an investigative journalist for BBC Inside Out South East.

She also works for BBC as a news reporter and presenter for the Look North program.

She first became a BBC Breakfast presenter in 2016.

Prior to her telly fame, Luxmy studied History and English Literature at the University of Durham.

Just yesterday, regular BBC Breakfast anchor Naga Munchetty was in the hot seat – and jokingly warned a co-star they were on “dangerous ground.”
