The show will have new cameras and parts of the set have changed colour so it’s more ‘consistent’

Silent Witness will be back for its 27th season, a number of changes have been made to the set.

Executive Producer Jayne Chard revealed they had gone with a “different vision” for the show’s aesthetic.

She felt The Lyle had looked “inconsistent” and so the colour of the walls and corridors have been changed to rectify that.

She also told Express.co.uk that the show’s cameras were different and would give it a “clean look” and softer vision.

Another major change to the set has taken place in Gabriel Folukoya’s (Aki Omoshaybi) office.

The cast will now be able to use the balcony that can be seen through the window for the first time ever, allowing more flexibility with scenes as well as camera angles.

The show’s new production designer Paul Booth explained to the outlet that the office space “didn’t quite work for us” so was keen to make the changes.

It also means there will be clarification for viewers that the meeting room is next to the mortuary, but he admitted: “Die-hard fans might not even notice.”

Earlier this year, Emilia, 48, discussed her future on the show as Dr. Nikki Alexander.

She told Express.co.uk: “I never expected to still be playing Nikki Alexander 18 years later, but I still love the show as much as when I first started on it.

“So, it’s really thanks to the loyal fans of Silent Witness and the enthusiasm for the show means that it is still [being] made.

“And I love it, and if audiences love it, and then hopefully it will carry on being made but you never know.”

Silent Witness airs on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
