The cast reunited for a special dinner as filming on the new series begins
It is set in the East End of London between the 1950s and 60s.
Call the Midwife fans have been left without their fix since the 12th series came to an end earlier this year.
But show bosses have sent them wild after dropping a huge update about the next series.
In a social media post, the producers revealed the cast have reunited as they prepare to shoot new episodes.
Writing on Facebook, a spokesperson said: “Since our tumultuous season 12 finished airing at the end of February, our intrepid team have been grabbing the chance to rest up, relax, or else fit in some quick theatrical work before filming commences again!
“But today marked an important celebration – our team gathered at a plush venue in the west end of London for their first get-together before the cameras roll again and the scripts drop through the doors.
“We hear the producers organised the team a wonderful meal – there were speeches, lots of laughter and many reunion hugs!”
The post was accompanied by a snap of the cast as they all smiled for the camera during their dinner.
Reacting to the news, one fan said: “Great show, can’t wait for the next series!”
A second wrote: “Love it can’t wait for it be back.”
“At last something decent to watch on television,” said a third.
While a fourth commented: “All great acting, keeps me well entertained, love it.”
