CORONATION Street fans have raged over the very obvious Co-op advertisement and have branded it “subtle as a sledgehammer”.
ITV viewers spotted the shopping bags popping up in various scenes and have claimed it is “product placement overload”.
The bright blue bag made an appearance multiple times on Wednesday’s episode.
It was spotted on the door in Tyrone Dobb’s kitchen and Craig Tinker was seen carrying two big shopping bags while walking as he strolled Victoria Street with girlfriend Faye Windass.
The ITV soap and the supermarket chain have a product placement deal in place, which was signed back in 2018 and then renewed last year.
One asked: “But viewers were complained there were too many carrier bag sightings on the cobbles.”

Another posted: “Blatant product placement for the Co-op with those shopping bags deliberately turned to face the cameras. F****** pathetic.”
A third echoed: “BIG CO-OP BAG ALERT!”
“All these bloody Co-op bags in #corrie – it’s product placement overload,” a fourth said.
Another added: “Subliminal advertising for the Co-op is about as subtle as a sledgehammer.”
Back in 2018, the ITV soap announced that its Victoria Street set extension would include the popular shop as well as coffee chain Costa.
At the time, Alison Jones, customer director at Co-op, said: “Coronation Street is all about community life and the Co-op is a retailer at the heart of local life and being close to the customer, which makes this a perfect match.”
Elsewhere viewers were baffled that Fiz Stape agreed to marry Phill Whittaker despite his horrifying betrayal.
The knicker stitcher – who is played by actress Jennie McAlpine in the ITV soap – discovered on Monday that Phill was writing a book about her serial killer late husband John Stape.
His actions caused her daughter Hope to discover the truth about her dad.
It left Fiz completely heartbroken and she ended the relationship.
Having moved out of the house she and Phill bought, Fiz returned to the cobbles and stayed with cheating ex Tyrone.
He was thrilled at the development and hoped it meant he and Fiz could reunite.
Tyrone even offered to collect Fiz’s things from their house and went to gloat to Phill.
The pair ended up wrestling in some wet concrete before Phill revealed he was planning to propose but had lost the ring in the cement.
Tyrone gamely climbed back into the mix and helped find it – before even trying to convince Fiz to say yes when they got back to the cobbles.
And after popping the question, Fiz said yes – delighting him and the girls.
But fans suspect Fiz is making a huge mistake – and predict nothing but disaster for them both.
One wrote: “Really Fiz, after all you said about him.”
A second said: “Oh Fiz you didn’t want to be with him 5 mins ago.”
