ITV soap Coronation Street has been hit by Ofcom complaints over the ongoing violence between Geoff Metcalfe and Yasmeen Nazir.
Yasmeen, played by actress Shelley King in the ITV soap, has been coercively controlled by manipulative Geoff in a storyline that has run for over two years.
But it culminated on 9 December when Geoff plunged to his death after slipping and falling off the roof while trying to attack Yasmeen.
His shock death came in the show’s 60th anniversary special episode.
In a satisfying twist, viewers then saw him being pecked by Yasmeen’s surviving chickens; viewers will remember how he killed and forced Yasmeen to eat her favourite chicken Charlotte Bronte.
However, the regulator has now confirmed to The Celeb Report that 12 complaints were made about the “violence” seen in the episode.
In May, Yasmeen was pushed to breaking point and stabbed Geoff in self-defence but was forced to go to trial over attempted murder.
Viewers recently saw her cleared by the jury after they heard how Geoff had abused and controlled her over the last two years.
But the abusive monster – who was played by actor Ian Bartholomew in the ITV soap – was quick to get her back in her grip.
“What do you fancy for your tea? Come on we can talk about it in the car. Come on, I’m on a meter, I don’t want to be charged for another hour,” he said to her outside the court room.
“You’re going to need a lift home you daft mare. She’s coming home with me. She’ still my wife – nothing they said in there changes a thing sunshine, nothing.”
However, in a shocking final few moments, viewers saw Geoff set fire to their home forcing Yasmeen to head for the roof.
He followed her but slipped and fell to his death.
