CORONATION Street actress, Cherylee Houston who plays Izzy Armstrong will return to the soap for the first time in three years next week.
The, 46-year-old first came on the cobbles in April 2010.
Cherylee is a firm favourite on the soap
Due to her health condition the actress had to shield at home during the pandemic
The actress plays Izzy Armstrong in the ITV soap – but she has rarely been seen over the last few years.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic she was unable to return to the soap because she was forced to shield at home.
Cherylee was diagnosed with the rare connective tissue disorder, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome when she was 23.
It makes her vulnerable to the effects of coronavirus so has had to delay her return to the soap, which she first joined in 2010.
She told disappointed fans it’ll be “a little while yet, I’m afraid” when they asked when she’ll be back on their screens.
Cherylee made a return to Coronation Street last year, in a storyline that highlighted the difficulty millions of disabled people experienced during the pandemic and the pressures they were under while trying to work remotely and shield at the same time.
She appeared in the episodes by Zoom in 2021 but hasn’t actually been on the street since then.
However viewers have often questioned if Cherylee had left the soap as she hasn’t been seen on screen since last spring.
But now – after three years – the soap star has revealed she will be coming back.
Speaking to the Mirror, Cherylee confirmed her plans to return, adding: “It would be wonderful to come back with a bit of a bang.
“Although I might actually come back with a small fizzle while I get better!”
