After sharing a kiss on Christmas Eve, Daniel (Rob Mallard) has been exploring his romantic potential with Lydia (Rebecca Ryan).

But when Lydia congratulates Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) for her protest against sexual harassment in Weatherfield High, the teenager makes a comment about how both she and Daniel overturned their suspensions from school.

The newbie eventually finds out about Daniel being falsely accused of having an inappropriate relationship with Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), doubts emerge about their budding relationship.

In an upcoming Coronation Street episode, due to air next Monday, Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) unexpectedly sings Daniel’s praises to Lydia.

Lydia will be seen confiding in Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) whom she has previously befriended upon her arrival in Weatherfield, telling her all about her worries.

Overhearing their conversation, Daisy jumps in to assure Lydia that she has nothing to fear from Daniel.

This prompts Sarah to tell Daniel how Daisy defended him to Lydia.

Daniel is taken aback by Daisy’s interference.

Later on, Daniel bumps into Daisy and thanks her for her help but is again shocked when she suggests they go out for a drink.

Meanwhile, Lydia spots the two characters and can’t help but notice the spark between them.

Another love triangle for Lydia?

In recent episode, she was revealed to be an old flame of Adam Barlow.

Their previous romantic connection is set to spark tension between Adam and Sarah as the latter grows insecure over her husband’s womanising past.

Daisy and Daniel grew closer prior to Christmas Eve and enjoyed a brief relationship.

However, both kept their link a secret to avoid interference from Jenny Connor and others who would disapprove.

Their trick worked a little too well as Daisy embarked in another relationship with Ashley Hardcastle, which made Daniel jealous.

The pair eventually broke up with Daniel calling Daisy ill-educated to wind her up.

Daisy’s relationship with Ashley didn’t make it either as she grew tired and bored of his boasting about his wealth and popularity.

She walked out of a party that Ashley had taken her to and, subsequently, out of his life.

But could she rekindle her flame with Daniel, despite his interest for Lydia?

Coronation Street airs on ITV at 7:30pm and 8:30pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
