CORONATION Street star Twana Omer has landed a major acting job after quitting the soap.
The actor – who played Daryan Zahaw in the ITV soap – only left the cobbles last week in an emotional storyline.
Daryan said farewell to the cobbles this week
Viewers watched as Daryan discovered that his only remaining family member, his brother, had also made it to the UK and was living in Nottingham.
His friends and neighbours organised a whip round so he could travel and be reunited after his ordeal on the cobbles.
He said an emotional farewell to Weatherfield and left on a train.
But now actor Twana has landed a major role in a Broadway stage play titled The Jungle.
The show, which opened late last month, also stars former Corrie legend Julie Hesmondhalgh.
Twana will appear in the play until the end of March before rejoining the cast when it moves to Washington for an off-Broadway run at the end of April.
The actor joined the soap last year as part of the far-right grooming plot involving Max Turner.
Daryan was also a victim of a brutal attack by vile racist Griff Reynolds’s gang.
The character then landed himself a job working in local restaurant Speed Daal after befriending owners Yasmeen and Alya Nazir.
He also struck up a close bond with Maria and Gary Windass and Nina Lucas during his time on the Street.
