Actress to Attend National Television Awards with New Partner
Coronation Street star Dame Maureen Lipman has announced her plans to go public with her new partner, two years after the death of her previous partner. The 77-year-old actress, known for playing Evelyn Plummer on the popular ITV soap, revealed that she will be attending the upcoming National Television Awards with her new gentleman friend, David. Lipman, who is nominated for the best serial drama performance, described finding love again as a gift. She expressed excitement about the event and emphasized the importance of finding the perfect dress for the occasion.
Love After Loss
Maureen Lipman's late partner was playwright Jack Rosenthal, who wrote early episodes of Coronation Street until his passing in 2004. The couple had two children together. After Rosenthal's death, Lipman had a 13-year relationship with computer expert Guido Castro. However, he tragically passed away in 2021 after contracting Covid-19 and battling Parkinson's Disease. Lipman spoke about her new relationship, describing it as a gift for everyone involved. She expressed openness to see where it leads and appreciated the kindness of her new partner.
NTA Nomination and Competition
Lipman's co-star, Charlotte Jordan, who plays Daisy Midgeley on Coronation Street, is also nominated in the same category at the National Television Awards. Lipman, known for her roles on both stage and screen, humorously acknowledged the possibility of not winning the award and graciously expressed her willingness to put on a brave face if another name is called. The actress has been a beloved part of the Coronation Street cast since joining in 2018 and has previously appeared in various popular TV series.
