CORONATION Street’s Mollie Gallagher has lifted the lid on ‘difficult’ and ‘heartbreaking’ new Nina and Seb scenes ahead of the murder trial.
Seb was killed in a hate crime attack targeting him and Nina that is reminiscent of the real world attack on Sophie Lancaster in 2007.
Corey Brent and Kelly Neelan have both been charged over the attack, but both teenagers have given conflicting accounts.
Tonight’s episode of the ITV soap will see Nina, who suffered from memory loss in the wake of the attack, relive the night of Seb Franklin’s murder through harrowing flashbacks and finally determine what happened.
Actress Mollie, 23, who plays Nina in the soap, has spoken out about what it was like to film the scenes.
She told Express.co.uk: “It was very hard because it was a reminder of the connection to the Sophie Lancaster story.
“I am only an actor playing a role, but this has happened to people in real life and that is heartbreaking.”
She continued: “It was cold and wet, lying on the floor – and we had to get back into the mindset that we had a few months ago and that was difficult, but I am so grateful to be doing this storyline on an issue which is so important to highlight.”
Talking about how fragments of Nina’s memory begin to resurface, she added: “She [Nina] is feeling very nervous because she knows she can’t remember what happened and she is putting a lot of pressure on herself.
“A song comes on in the café when she is sleeping and she remembers that it is the same song that was playing in the van Seb was driving, on the day of the attack.

“It triggers her memory and although it’s emotional it makes her feel encouraged that she can remember more if she tries.”
Later this week, the trial kicks off and Corey’s defence lawyer Sabeen is shocked to hear about Nina’s new statement.
She’s right to be worried as Nina tells the court how she remembers seeing Corey kicking Seb repeatedly and Kelly begging him to stop.
However, when Sabeen cross examines her, will Nina crumble?
Sabeen then does her best to twist Asha’s words when she enters the witness box.
