Do Love Island stars wear their own clothes?

LOVE Island season eight is well and truly underway, and once again we are in awe of the beautiful clothes the Islanders get to wear.

Whether it’s a bombshell’s show-stopping dress, a dapper shirt for a first date or the strappy bikini that hugs every curve, find out here if the Islanders wear their own clothes.

Love Island contestants are known for their stunning items of clothing on the show.

Do Love Island stars wear their own clothes?

In previous seasons of Love Island, the contestants have worn, among their own items of clothing, pieces given to them by fast-fashion giant I Saw It First.

The sponsor provided the Islanders with a huge wardrobe of outfits to wear in the villa.

They would meet with the Islanders ahead of the show to get an idea of their personal style.

The deal was to make sure the Islanders have the latest trends to wear and never run out of clothes during their eight weeks in Mallorca.

But the fast-fashion brand wasn’t the only store dressing the stars.

Online retailers like PrettyLittleThing and Oh Polly were also known to have sent the Islanders freebies to wear on camera.

Where do the Love Island stars get their clothes from?

For the past three years, I Saw It First has sponsored the reality show.

But in a bid to become more sustainable, ITV has ditched its relationship with the Boohoo owned brand and has instead partnered with eBay for season eight.

For the next two months, fans of the show can expect to see all contestants in pre-loved clothing.

Head of fashion buying at eBay Jemma Tadd believes Love Island, which has amassed audiences of three million and upwards per episode in previous seasons, has the power to change consumers’ perceptions around secondhand clothes and their spending habits in relation to fast fashion.

Speaking about the deal with eBay, Love Island stylist Amy Bannerman said: “As a company, eBay has always thought about who its partners should be and how it can reach new people, and this seemed like a natural and exciting relationship.

“ITV also wanted to move away from fast fashion, which is hugely exciting.”

Do the Love Island stars share clothes?

The aim this year is for the contestants to share their clothes.

There is also a seamstress available on location, so clothes can be altered to suit the individuals.

This is in hopes that the clothing really stands out and nothing goes to waste.

Meanwhile, there’s no specific dress code in the villa.

But the one rule they have to follow is that that they are not allowed to wear any branded clothing or footwear.
