CATHY Hope is done taking a backseat from all the drama in Yorkshire and will soon be thrown into a never done before storyline.
Emmerdale viewers believe they’ve figured out what will happen to her and have taken to social media to share theories.
Soap boss Jane Hudson teased a massive upcoming storyline for Cathy Hope
The character was last involved in a huge storyline with April Windsor back in 2021
She was exposed as April’s bully but has been standing on the side-lines ever since
Soap boss Jane Hudson spoke to Daily Star teasing an “emotional” time ahead for Cathy.
“You’ll see a big story for Cathy, Bob’s daughter, which is very emotional”, she said.
“It’s her first big story really and it’s a challenging one, and I think it’s one a lot of parents will connect with.”
“It’s one I haven’t seen a soap do before. So Cathy’s got a big storyline coming up.”
Theories immediately began to swirl on social media with ITV viewers convinced the youngster, played by Gabrielle Dowling, is in for a shock DNA twist.
According to them, Cathy may have been “switched at birth.”
“I bet it turns out Cathy isn’t Bob’s daughter or Heath’s twin and there was a mix-up at the hospital”, one viewer penned on Facebook.
Another suggested: “There is actually a phenomenon where two twins can have different fathers.”
“Because the whole swapped at birth thing has been done before, so perhaps Bob isn’t actually her real dad but he is Heath’s.”
“Ooh I like that idea. Can’t remember that being done before!”, a third commented.
A fourth soap fan jumped in: “They’d be fraternal twins… so this could be possible if perhaps Viv cheated on Bob.”
But while some believe Emmerdale could tackle a baby swap, others aren’t buying it.
“They were born in a car or van out in the Moors so not much chance of them getting mixed up with another set of twins!”, another viewer notably argued.
“I don’t think they would mix twins up would they? And they look so alike because they are twins in real life so if it’s that it will be a bit far fetched!”, one fan posted.
Gabrielle Dowling has been part of the soap’s line-up alongside her real-life twin brother Sebastian, known as Heath Hope in soap land, since 2007.
This would be her first major storyline since her character was exposed as April Windsor’s bully in 2021.
Cathy has mostly been standing on the side-lines, appearing sporadically with Amelia Spencer ahead of the latter’s teen pregnancy storyline.
