ESCAPE to the Chateau’s Dick Strawbridge silenced wife Angel over a new project telling her ‘I don’t want to know’.
The married couple returned to our screens last night with spin-off series Make Do and Mend.
It sees them help other couples tackle their design and DIY dilemmas, and last night’s first guests revealed they wanted help with a piano that held a lot of memories for them.
They explained to Dick and Angel how the piano had been played by loved ones past and present, and they wanted to find a way to bring all those memories together.
Angel immediately said: “This is a bit of me because it excites me.”
Dick replied: “And if you need a hand building anything, I am here.”
It was an offer he would immediately live to regret as Angel burst into her ideas for the project, saying: “I am thinking of a theatre…”
Dick immediately cut her off, telling her: “Shush, I don’t need to know because I’m going to get a headache thinking about where you’re going with this.
“I can just see a full production.”
Despite having her ideas session silenced mid-flow, Angel laughed at her husband’s comments and continued to think about how she could help the guests.
She went on to suggest to the guest that they gather all the pictures of various family members playing the piano and get them printed onto some fabric so they could be turned into household items such as a pillow for the piano stool.
The guests not only followed her advice but went above and beyond and changed a number of items in their home to make them feel even closer to their lost relatives.
Escape to the Chateau: Make Do and Mend continues on Thursday, July 1 at 9pm on Channel 4.
