EUPHORIA star Barbie Ferreira has gone viral for looking unrecognisable in photos from 2014.
The 25-year-old actress and model is best known for her role as Kat Hernandez in the hit HBO series, which also stars Zendaya, and Maude Apatow.
As a teenager, Barbie modelled for American Apparel, and snaps of her from when she started out have circulated on social media with many comparing her body in 2014 to now.
And they’ve sparked a difficult debate around why fans are obsessed with her looking slimmer.
Barbie has not yet commented on the sudden attention over her old photos, but she has been known to preach body positivity and self-love for years.
Her positive messages earned her a place on Time’s Most Influential Teens of 2016 list.
Ferreira featured in a campaign for lingerie brand Aerie, which was completely unretouched. The video was one of the first of its kind and quickly went viral.
In addition to wider recognition from her role in the HBO television series Euphoria, Barbie keeps fans busy with her advocacy and love life updates.
Barbie told Paper: “When my first modeling pictures came out, it was totally new to see someone who was a bigger girl in something that wasn’t necessarily a plus-size brand.”
Since then, she has modeled for a number of brands – including Aerie, Asos, Forever 21, H&M, Missguided and even Target.
Barbie now has an astonishing 2.6 million Instagram followers.
