CHARITY Dingle has finally figured out that her husband Mackenzie Boyd is the father of Chloe Harris’ baby.
With her troubled past in mind, many Emmerdale fans are expecting her to find a way to get back at the hunk.
Drama continues in the eponymous village next week
What will Charity do after finding out Mackenzie cheated on her?
1. Devastating revenge plot
Chloe Harris (portrayed by Jessie Elland) gave birth to a baby boy named Reuben after a hard pregnancy which involved her becoming homeless.
Luckily for her, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) welcomed her within her home, unaware that Chloe was pregnant with her partner’s lovechild.
However, when Reuben was rushed to hospital, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) struggled to keep his bond with Reuben a secret and Charity eventually put two and two together.
Coming up on the ITV soap, Mack’s sister Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) gets wind of his betrayal and pieces his months of lies together.
Mackenzie is shaken by her words but they eventually leave him spurred-on to fix things with Charity.
Will Charity accept to work on things?
Or could she come up with a way of getting payback?
Actress Emma Atkins spoke to Metro.co.uk about how her character will handle the situation.
“I do like a bit of the old Wild Charity, it’s good to play”, she said.
The Woolpack landlady is also no stranger to masking her identity and has proved she can rock any wig she can put her hands on – could her plan for revenge involve sporting a new look before making Mackenzie regret his actions?
“I’m just waiting for the next bloody wig they stick me into. I’m like the wig woman!”, Emma quipped.
Could this week’s events only be the calm before the storm?
Some fans are eager to see Charity and Vanessa rekindle their relationship
2. “Vanity” reunion
Charity tied the knot with Mackenzie Boyd in recent weeks but could her bad experience with him convince her it’s time to embrace single life.
While many fans are hoping for Vanessa Woodfield’s return and a “Vanity” reunion, the vet played by Michelle Hardwick has yet to return to the Dales.
In the meantime, Emma Atkins made it clear she believes Charity’s difficult relationships are a wake-up call for her to focus on herself.
“She is kind of a wounded human”, Emma told Metro.
“I think she needs to sort herself out first before she maybe latches on to anyone in the future. Potentially she is a one-woman band.”
Could soap bosses be setting a new and better foundation for Charity and Vanessa?
Some fans speculate Mackenzie won’t be getting with Chloe anytime soon
3. New couple alert
Fans have also theorised a new relationship for Mackenzie – and it won’t be with Chloe Harris.
This week, Chloe will be exposed to her sister Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) which could convince her to stay away from Mack altogether.
But another villager may be the comfort Mackenzie needs in the aftermath of his cheating being exposed – and it could be Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham).
The young mother has no inkling she’s being duped by Nicky Milligan into marrying him as part of a plot for him and his father Caleb to get their hands on the Tate fortune.
To make matters even more complicated, Nicky is seeing his real lover Ally (Josh Horrocks) behind Gabby’s back.
Although the engaged couple have set an official date for their wedding, a handful of viewers have speculated Gabby could turn to Mackenzie for help in planning for her special day as he’s the resident who most recently got married.
And who could be there to support her when she inevitably finds out the truth about Nicky?
None other than Mackenzie himself.
Could fans be right?
Caleb turns on the Dingles
4. Broken family bond
Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) gets ready to turn his back on his own family this week and Moira Barton could be left in the dust.
This week, Kim (Claire King) is fully on board with Caleb’s plan to convince the farmer to sell them Butlers in order to get the land necessary for their stud farm.
Moira (Natalie J. Robb) has been thrown into financial turmoil and Caleb continues to be an interested observer of her hardship.
Later on, Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Moira stand in a field at Butlers, staring out into the distance and the pressure gets too overwhelming for the latter.
Cain is in shock when Moira emotionally admits defeat in her battle for the farm – while Caleb watches from a distance.
He later arrives at Moira’s request, while a wary Cain observes, and he suggests that he’s found a possible way to help the farm.
But Moira is unimpressed when Caleb moots her selling her farmland to Kim Tate for the stud farm.
Moira realises she has no other choice and she swallows her pride by telling Kim to make her an offer for the land.
Unbeknownst to anybody and as mentioned above, Caleb only wants to overthrow Kim Tate and take what he believes he’s due.
While he tries to get his hands on Moira’s land, his son Nicky (Lewis Cope) is stressed when several erroneous attempts to enter Kim’s password almost lock her laptop.
Later on, at the rear of the Woolpack, Caleb’s contact Adrian (Andonis James Anthony) provides him with USD sticks that will enable him to install malware on Kim’s laptop and obtain all of her passwords.
Could Cain retaliate when he figures out what Caleb is really up to?
Will Kim ever catch him red-handed?
Could Wendy embark on an affair?
5. Sparks fly at the surgery
Meanwhile, Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) gets a little closer to one of his colleagues.
After separating from wedding planner Leyla Harding, the village GP has been keeping his head down, supporting Paddy Kirk throughout his mental health struggles and focusing on his work.
But what else has Liam been up to? Surprisingly, his colleague Wendy Posner (player by Susan Cookson) will be the first to suss it out.
The pair bond when Wendy discovers a secret about Liam – he’s not only a doctor but he’s also a published author.
Liam has kept this a secret by adopting the pen name Anna Le Monde.
Wendy and Liam enjoy each other’s company as she helps him with the ending of a short story.
But in later scenes, he’s taken aback when Wendy blatantly lies to her partner Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) so she can come to a murder mystery convention with him.
Fans have taken to social media convinced that Wendy and Liam could embark on a shocking affair as they have a tendency to keep each other’s secrets.
Will that be the case.
There’s only one way to find out – Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
