GOGGLEBOX star Pete Sandiford failed to hold back his tears as the show returned to screens for a new series.
Pete, who appears on Gogglebox alongside his sister Sophie, wore his heart on his sleeve on Friday night while watching an emotional programme.
Gogglebox’s Pete Sandiford broke down in tears on Friday night
He wiped his eyes while watching a blind teenage pianist on The Piano
The siblings had tuned into a recent episode of The Piano, which is hosted by Claudia Winkleman and is on the hunt for four of the UK’s top amateur pianists.
But it all got too much for Pete as he watched an inspiring blind and neurodiverse teenager playing a piece of Chopin at Leeds station.
Lucy, 13, was diagnosed with cancerous tumours when she was younger and learned to play the piano by resting her hands on top of her teacher’s hands.
Pete could not believe the youngster’s talent and broke down in tears as he watched her play.
“It’s a nice bit of music, isn’t it?” he told his sister Sophie, as his eyes filled up.
Pete, who is expecting his second child with wife Paige, then joked: “I’d be getting a little hat on the floor here, cashing in on a couple of quid.
“Come on, it’s not free!”
His emotion was clear, however, as Pete then wiped another tear away from his eye.
One viewer tweeted: Well that was just precious on #Gogglebox. When Pete tears up, it makes me tear up. How incredibly talented is Lucy tho.”
Gogglebox fans were thrilled to have the show back on screens on Friday night following a break.
It has returned for its 21st series and featured all the favourites, apart from Mica and and Marcus who quit in December.
Lee Riley, who stars on Gogglebox alongside his best friend Jenny Newby, also welled up as he watched Lucy playing the piano.
Gogglebox continues next Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
