A Long Battle
Derek was first hospitalized with Covid in March 2020 and spent 13 months in the hospital, making him Britain's longest suffering coronavirus patient. He has faced various health complications, including brain inflammation, kidney failure, and damage to the liver and pancreas. Garraway has been documenting his health battle and has had to make adjustments to their home and pay for round-the-clock care and physiotherapy.
