Hit ITV show to return in April for eighth series

ITV is bringing back a much-loved weekend show for its eighth series in April.

John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen will return for another mouthwatering run of cooking from hosts Lisa Faulkner and John Torode.

Speaking exclusively to the Sun to promote Ocado’s Fill Your Freezer campaign, Lisa revealed the recipe for the show’s success.

She says: “We’ve got a new series starting at the end of April. We love doing it. It’s doing well in the ratings.

“It builds year on year, which everyone is really thrilled about, and we have such a lovely time filming it. So yes, it is coming back.

“It takes quite a while because we’ve got to come with about 40 recipes for the whole run of the show. John and I sit down and come up with ideas.

“Whenever we see something or want to cook something, we just write it down and put it into an email, then everyone will say ‘yes or no’ to certain things.

“We then test all the recipes. That’s the hardest bit.”

When it’s time to rustle up the dishes in the studio, Lisa says the couple quickly feel like they’re making dinner at home.

“It comes together really fast,” she says. “They literally put the cameras on us, put the ingredients in front of us and they let it roll, which is lovely.

“I learn from John all the time because he is such a professional. He’s an amazing chef.

“It doesn’t feel like any pressure. When they say ‘action’, it’s like we’re in our own kitchen.

“We have all of our own stuff around us and we just cook. Afterwards you go ‘I’ve got no idea what I said in that recipe’.”

Lisa is currently working with Ocado, helping to provide delicious meal inspiration.
