HOLBY City is serving bombshell after bombshell for its last ever Christmas episode, due to air on BBC One.
While Amelia and Eli will be given a nasty surprise, viewers can look forward to an unexpected and exciting return.
Amelia – played by Lucy Briggs-Owen – has been having a turbulent time on Holby City.
After being subjected to an experimental treatment for her brain tumour, which had fans of the show left in tears, fearing for the character’s life, Amelia has been adamant on building a family with husband Eli (Davood Ghadami).
The couple have been desperately trying for a baby for months and were elated to find out that Amelia was finally expecting.

The news came after years of infertility and failed IVF treatments, and also followed Amelia’s announcement to Max that her therapy had been successful as all the symptoms of her tumour had disappeared.
Still on cloud nine after this miracle pregnancy announcement, it becomes clear that the couple still have obstacles to face.
In a brand new episode of Holby City – its last ever Christmas episode before the finale expected on the air in March 2022 – Amelia arranges a scan appointment as an early Christmas gift for Eli.
Excited to get a glance at their unborn child, the surgeon and his wife are devastated when the senographer is unable to find a heartbeat.
The tragedy leads both Amelia and Eli to grieve but in very different ways.
While Eli keenly supports Amelia, the latter begins to question her faith after all the hurdles she has had to jump through.
Will Eli be able to make her believe in their future?
But with the Holby City farewell looming on the horizon, other familiar faces are set to make a return to the show.
According to media outlet Digital Spy, one star will be appearing in “a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment” but will be heavily featured when the series comes back to the screens in the New Year.
But who will make a comeback for the series last episode in March, 2022?
Following her own return to Holby City as Jac Naylor in July, 2021, Rosie Marcel teased that more fan-favourites will be reprising their roles.
“I can’t say a lot without giving too much away, but what I will say is that the finale is going to be amazing”, the actress told media outlet Inside Soap.
“We’re bringing back loads of old characters, which is going to be really exciting for everyone.”
