DURING her killing spree in the Dales, Meena Jutla has found a place in the hearts of many fans.
But the iconic Emmerdale serial killer is facing trial and will soon be leaving the ITV soap. Here’s how it could all go down.
1. Meena goes to prison
Perhaps the most obvious (and even probable) of outcomes.
After returning to the village in an attempt to ruin Dawn and Billy Fletcher’s wedding, Meena – portrayed by Paige Sandhu – was ironically pushed off the same bridge Leanna Cavanagh lost her life.
Once she was sent to hospital, she was eventually caught up with the truth and charged with murder.
Since then, the serial killer has been awaiting her murder trial from the comfort of her small cell.

Spoilers have confirmed her sister Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) will be taking the witness stand to testify against her.
While Emmerdale residents know she’s not only responsible for Leanna’s death but also for Ben Tucker’s murder, her involvement in Andrea Tate and Nadine Butler’s deaths could be confirmed.
As she gets ready to confront and humiliate Manpreet in court, Meena prepare one final show-stopping performance before undoubtedly being sentenced to prison.
Which brings us to another theory.
2. Death behind bars
While she appears ready to walk free from all charges, and unwilling to go down without a fight, could the serial killer die as she bows out?
This tragic twist could fit her taste for theatrics, which her biggest fans have all learned to love about her.
Some fans are convinced that Meena will be killed off the long-running ITV soap after spotting a clue hinting she could be suffering from major internal injuries.
Meena was seen clutching her ribs and groaning as she sits and moves slowly during prison scenes.
The injuries could be a consequence of Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) pushing her off the humpback bridge after she returned to the eponymous village on Valentine’s Day.
“Who thinks Meena is going to die from internal bleeding? She keeps heavy breathing and clutching her ribs”, one fan pointed out on Twitter.
Another viewer theorised: “Meena will probably die of internal bleeding in prison!”
But will her fall on the rocks cost her her life?
Another group of fans speculate that another inmate could murder Meena as one prisoner glared at her for using the phone.
However, her death may mean she will never really face the consequences of her actions.
3. A fifth victim
Her murderous streak is no secret but could Meena actually add a fifth kill (or even several) to her name before leaving?
Actress Rebecca Sarker has managed to remain tight-lipped when talking to Metro.
“I haven’t heard anything! But that’s the life of an actor, people come and go.”
During her years in the Dales, Meena has already taken the lives of three residents.
The villain also traumatised several others in the likes of Manpreet, Vinny Dingle, Leyla Cavanagh, Dawn Taylor and Billy Fletcher, who have all escaped death.

4. Another narrow escape?
This wouldn’t be the first time the criminal dodges comeuppance.
ITV viewers have already seen Meena try to pin Andrea Tate’s death on Manpreet which could be teasing one of her new plans.
However, Manpreet has a solid alibi for that day was she was going through her own turmoil, falling from the rope bridge with Charles.
Her efforts to humiliate Manpreet remain to be seen but Meena could also be planning a prison break to escape justice once again.
“I think if she does see an opportunity of being able to get away then she will use it”, the actress told Daily Star.
“Because of her confidence and arrogance she believes that she can outsmart anyone”, Paige said.
“So if she did get caught by the police then she would believe she could manipulate and worm herself out of situations – which she has done in the past many times with the police.”
Spoilers have confirmed she has already charmed a prison officer.
While under her spell, the latter brings her a chocolate bar as well as a newspaper.
But will she charm her way out of prison?
5. Birthday comeback
What if Meena did manage to escape or convince Emmerdale residents she was really gone?
Fans don’t expect her to leave that swiftly and theorise that, either way, she could be brought back just in time for the show’s 50th anniversary in October, 2022.
As Meena has become a big part of the programme in recent years, it would only make sense she’d return as the soap turns half a century.
“I just had a thought”, one fan wrote on Facebook.
“Emmerdale is 50 years old this year in October, and we know soaps do a bit thing on big birthdays.”
“So I’m thinking what if Meena is part of that 50th birthday celebrations that means she’s there ’til October?”
Another viewer added: “What if she goes, everyone thinks she’s dead but she comes back in September/October to finish her revenge?”
Meanwhile, soap boss Jane Hudson has confirmed there’s something big brewing for Emmerdale’s 50th anniversary since the anniversary plans have been ongoing for a decade.
“Super Soap Week has really shown us what we can do”, she said.

6. Return from the dead
This strange and unlikely theory involves the return of one character from the grave.
It has circulated online as Meena fans have asked for a spin-off dedicated to her via a petition on Change.org.
Some viewers are suspecting Graham Foster will return and take Meena under his wing.
Fans believe that he could still be alive as his funeral took place with only Kim Tate in attendance.
One hopeful viewer shared this theory on Twitter: “Best outcome. Meena is in the courtroom. Graham didn’t die but was saved and the police protected him as he was undercover.”
