But despite the show’s hard nature, Babatunde says he isn’t bothered about getting “hangry” by the lack of tasty meals.
The comedian explained that he’d “struggled” growing up, and hinted that the rice and bean jungle diet wouldn’t faze him.
He shared: “I grew up in Tottenham man, so really I lived a struggled life, do you know what I mean? So getting hangry I kind of know how to deal with.
“I am not here to tell everybody like a sob story about my whole childhood, man that is the past. What I am saying in terms of that is that I have been through that, so you know I know I can kind of deal with going hungry, things like that.”
He continued to tell the Mirror he doesn’t feel pressure to crack jokes all the time while in camp, despite his profession.
“If I don’t bust one joke whilst in there, that is amazing to me man! Nor I am not going to put that pressure on myself,” he said.
Adding: “I am not going to let no one, even the audience, put that kind of pressure on me.
“I am not on stage while I am in camp so if people are like, ‘well he isn’t funny’, it’s like well come and see me when I am actually performing and then you will see that funny side but, nah, I am not putting that pressure on myself, no.”
Earlier today The Celeb Report exclusively revealed Babatunde pulled out of the vertigo-inducing Walk The Plank challenge after 45 minutes of deliberation.
He was joined by Lionesses star Jill Scott and newsreader Charlene White for the challenge – which sees the celebrities walking out on planks suspended from a 32-storey building overlooking the Gold Coast.
The trial, which has been renamed The Ledge on this year’s series, was hampered by windy conditions.
As the stars were strapped into their harnesses, onlookers revealed how nervous everyone looked.
But as Charlene, 42, and Jill, 35, calmly walked out to the tip of the plank – Babatunde was left standing with his head in his hands.
An onlooker said: “Babatunde was really struggling during The Ledge and everyone felt for him.
“It truly is a terrifying task and no one can grasp the scale of it until you are there.”
