From 90s Heyday to Reunion Tour
John Power, the indie legend and former frontman of the band Cast, is gearing up to support Oasis on their upcoming reunion tour. The 56-year-old musician looks unrecognisable in recent pictures, a far cry from his 90s heyday when Cast was one of Britain’s biggest bands.
Return to the Stage
Many Cast fans will remember the band's performance with Oasis in Knebworth back in 1996. Now, 29 years later, they are set to return to support Liam and Noel Gallagher this August for the highly anticipated Oasis tour. John Power accompanied Liam on the Definitely Maybe 30th Anniversary Tour last year but was taken by surprise when he got the call for the reunion tour.
Excitement for the Tour
Discussing the moment he received the call from Liam, John Power described it as something out of the movies, like the bat phone had just gone off. The band was over the moon but took some time for the news to sink in. Cast, made up of John and Peter Wilkinson, split in 2001 but reunited in 2023, releasing their third album since reforming in 2010, titled "Love Is The Call."
90s Nostalgia
Cast, known for hits like "Fine Time" and "Walkaway," was one of many acts from the 90s considered for the Oasis tour. John Power expressed his hopes to be involved, sharing a wise quote, "Don't put your dreams in the hands of a rock and roll band." The band, originally from Liverpool, has a rich musical history, with John Power also being a part of The La's and portraying John Lennon in a musical.
Supporting Acts Announced
In addition to Cast, former The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft has been confirmed as another supporting act for the Oasis tour. The reunion tour promises to bring back the magic of the 90s music scene, with fans eagerly anticipating the performances from these iconic musicians.
