Ella breaks down in tears as she shares her story
Married At First Sight UK star Ella Morgan Clark left her fellow newlyweds emotional as she revealed that she is transgender during the first dinner party of the series. Reading from a prepared speech, the 29-year-old bride, who is married to former Geordie Shore star Nathanial Valentino, became overwhelmed with emotion as she explained that she has always known she is a girl, despite being assigned male at birth.
"I just wanted to share something really personal to me"
Ella, who is the first transgender person to appear on MAFS UK, expressed her desire to be open, honest, and her authentic self within the experience. She described the moment as one of the hardest and scariest things she has ever done, and recounted how her appearance at birth was different from how she looks today. Ella's mother asked her if she was gay when she was younger, to which she replied, "No, mum. I am a woman." Ella continued, "I've never questioned who I am, I've always known I'm Ella inside."
"All I ask is that you respect me and treat me as the person I am"
Ella acknowledged the struggles we all face in life but emphasized that most people don't have to question their identity or gender. She expressed that she didn't expect her co-stars to fully understand or comprehend her experience, but she asked for their respect and acceptance. Ella concluded her speech by stating, "Now my outside matches my inside, I stand in front of you all as an openly transgender woman, but, more importantly, I stand here as Ella and all I want to do is be seen and treated as the girl that I am finally."
