Married at First Sight UK shake-up as major change is made in series return

MARRIED at First Sight has had a major shake-up ahead of the third UK series.

Matchmakers Charlene Douglas, Paul C Brunson, and Mel Schilling will make a return – and the series will be its longest in history.

The 2021 series of MAFS started off with 21 episodes, which increased to 30 last year.

Now there will 36 episodes in 2023 – including the reunions.

Filming has already begun while MAFS Australia airs in the meantime.

Reacting to the future return of the hit E4 series, sex and relationship therapist Charlene said: “I love being a part of the show as I love helping people.

“A lot of time, work and effort goes on behind the scenes to ensure we are making strong matches.

“We truly want to help people find what they’re looking for.

“Our couples apply to be on Married At First Sight UK because conventional dating hasn’t worked for them.

“They come to the experts ready to try a new way to meet someone. I don’t think they’re always prepared for the work that they’ll have to do on themselves. Nothing gets past Paul, Mel or I.

“We want every relationship to work and sometimes that means we have to say what we have observed – even if that’s difficult for someone to hear.”

In the meantime, Charlene is working with Candy Crush Saga as she encourages daters to embrace their quirky interests.

It’s after research by Candy Crush revealed 75 per cent of people fake interest in their date’s hobby to impress.

But Charlene has coined the term Quirkodisiacs, meaning the quirky interest(s) we hide from others for fear of being judged, that people actually find really attractive after insisted honesty is the best policy.

“Just own it,” says Charlene.

“Being your authentic self is the best quality when dating – not to mention confidence is attractive.

“My key tip would be to say it with a smile. If someone can see how much you enjoy the hobby and how much happiness it brings you – that’s what they’ll see and what really matters.

“You never know – if your hobby is playing mobile games, like Candy Crush Saga for example – you might find they love it, too, and can bond over your love of it together.”

The top five Quirkodisiacs include reading or collecting comic books, playing board games, gardening, listening to pop music and gaming.
