MATT Hancock is bracing himself to make history on I’m A Celebrity – by being forced to do a record-breaking number of Bushtucker trials.
Westminster insiders have told how the Tory MP faces a barrage of votes from those inside his own party – as well as angry members of the public.
Matt Hancock is facing brutal Bushtucker trials
He’s heading into the jungle
The former health secretary had to resign after The Celeb Report exposed him for breaking his own lockdown rules by having an affair in the office.
Sources say Mr Hancock sprung the I’m A Celeb news on stunned Conservative colleagues after failing to get promoted in Rishi Sunak‘s reshuffle late last week.
He’s had the whip removed – which means he can’t vote in Parliament as a Tory – and is facing massive backlash from the public about going into the jungle.
An insider told The Celeb Report: “I think there’ll be plenty of calls from Westminster when it comes to putting creepy crawlies down his pants and making him eat kangaroo balls or whatever.”
Another said: “Voters are sickened by the thought of him being on an entertainment show, but picking up the phone to vote is the perfect opportunity for those seeking revenge over lockdown.
” People in his own party are furious with him after everything that’s happened and they’re looking forward to playing a part in seeing him suffer.”
Ten celebrities will go into I’m A celeb this Sunday when the new series starts but Matt, 44, will be one of two stars who’ll join the camp later.
The other is comedian Seann Walsh, 36.
Since news broke of ITV’s sensational signing, bookies have Matt at 2/1 to break the record of doing the most amount of Bushtucker trials.
The record is currently held by Naughty Boy – who threatened to quit after the public turned on him for his whining.
Although, it was revealed by The Celeb Report today that the MP could be ruled out of doing certain Bushtucker Trials.
Matt got trench foot while filming Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins and it might not have cleared up in time.
I’m a Celebs fans are adamant he won’t be ruled out on medical grounds and they’ll be able to vote for him to face the likes of gruelling eating challenges.
Betfair spokesman Sam Rosbottom said: “Matt Hancock is among the early favourites to be the first departure on this year’s I’m a Celeb.

“The former health secretary is 6/1 to go first, with Scarlette Douglas and Charlene White the 3/1 joint-favourites to spend the shortest time in the jungle.
“The British public look set to make Hancock’s time in Australia a nightmare with the Tory MP 2/1 to break the record of doing the most Bushtucker trials (seven) in I’m a Celeb history.”
