MP Matt, 44, was caught out last year when it was revealed he was having an affair with aide Gina Coladangelo despite Covid rules.

Tonight in the jungle, the politician revealed that he planned to address the incident in a tell-all book about his time in parliament.

Matt told his fellow celebrities tonight he had already penned the autobiographical novel, titled Pandemic Diaries.

Sitting down with Radio DJ Chris Moyles, the pair discussed their plans for after leaving the I’m A Celeb jungle camp.

Chris asked Matt: “What’s the plan, come out of here, write a book?”

Matt then shocked his co-stars as he replied: “I’ve just finished a book – Pandemic Diaries. Does what it says on the tin.”

Chris asked: “How warts and all is it?” to which Matt replied: “Totally. Tells the story straight. Needs telling.”

He went on to add: “Also, there’s going to be an inquiry. That will tell the story straight as well.”

Viewers at home were left shocked and furious, and took to Twitter to complain Matt was “profiting” off his appearance.

One wrote: “I’m in total disbelief that Matt Hancock has gone onto I’m a Celebrity to promote a book he’s written about him breaking the law. Profiting off not doing his job properly. Unbelievable.”

A second chimed in: “So Matt Hancock is in the jungle to promote his new book instead of dyslexia…”

While a third said: “So there we have it, Matt has been asked countless times ‘why are you doing this show’ – he has a book coming out…”

A fourth concluded: “Matt Hancock, is getting paid £400,000 to come on here and promote his upcoming book.”

It comes after an expert ruled that Matt’s confession to the affair scandal on last night’s I’m A Celeb was “a rehearsed performance“.

Judi James described the former Health Secretary’s admission of guilt over his lockdown-busting affair with aide Gina Coladangelo as “politically-structured”.

Mr Hancock made the confession as he was quizzed by fellow contestant Babatunde Aleshe.

Judi told The Celeb Report Online: “This looks very much like Matt’s set-piece: the re-hab moment he has been prepping for this jungle visit as well as a moment he has performed before, but clearly not to such a wide audience.

“It also looks like a politically-structured  performance aimed at swerving all the difficult aspects and details of his story and any emotional displays needed to show shame or regret, and re-directing the audience’s focus onto the positive message Matt wants to get across, complete with sound-bites and emotional body language that would show him in a good light.”

The expert added that Mr Hancock’s posture seems carefully designed to “seek our forgiveness” and points to his “dog house” posture and “I messed up and I ‘fessed up” soundbite as key giveaways.

She said: “There is an acted sense of humility and of ‘being in the dog house’ in his chosen pose as he sits with his arms resting on his legs so his back is hunched forward and his head bowed.

“This is a submissive ritual in the animal kingdom and the head lowering would be seen as a survival response to avoid attack.”

The disgraced MP told campmate Babtunde: “I messed up and I ’fessed up. I resigned and it’s no excuse but I fell in love, right?

“That also had a lot of other consequences, obviously.”

The comedian then quipped back “You didn’t just ‘fall in love’, you were grabbing booty, bruv.”
