Fans left disappointed

Viewers of the hit BBC One comedy series, Mrs Brown's Boys, took to social media to express their disappointment with the New Year's special episode.

Calls for cancellation

Legions of Twitter users demanded that the show be cancelled after watching the second episode of the festive season. Many viewers described the episode as "terrible" and questioned why it was delaying the BBC news.

Creator hits back

Brendan O'Carroll, the creator and star of Mrs Brown's Boys, responded to the criticism and defended the show's popularity. He acknowledged that comedy is subjective and explained that the show has received countless letters from families, including those with autistic children, who have found solace and laughter in Mrs Brown's Boys.

"When you get a letter like that, I don't care what the critics say. That'll do me," O'Carroll said.
