OUR YORKSHIRE Farm star Amanda Owen sparked outrage after she posted a seemingly innocent snap of her family gathered for dinner.
But her fans were not impressed by the story behind the pictures uploaded to the Channel 5 favourite’s Instagram page.
The mother-of-nine was seen dishing out the tasty looking lamb roast to her brood, as well as a selection of photos of the shop-bought products.
Amanda, 46, explained: “At Ravenseat, sitting down as a family for a meal at the end of the day is a very important part of who we are.
“Today we have gathered together for a delicious British leg of Lamb from @morrisons. Morrisons is a huge supporter of British farmers and only stocks 100% British meat.”
She went on: “The lamb, which is a whole leg from their Market Street Butchers Counter, was seasoned with garlic and rosemary, served with creamy dauphinoise potatoes, roasted parsnips, peas, carrots and a luscious red wine gravy. As you can see it went down a treat!
“Comment below to let me know how you make your Sunday lamb roast dinner special and also keep your eyes on my page over the coming weeks for more lovely lamb related dishes. #ad #makinggoodthingshappen”.
And her followers were more than happy to comment on her post – but instead to voice their concerns.
One wrote: “I love following Amanda and the family but really hope they don’t turn into advertising posts for large supermarket chains”.
Another asked the Yorkshire Farm star who is married to 66-year-old farmer Clive: “Surely better to buy locally produced meat from your local butcher.”
A third queried: “We buy your lamb or if not available the local lamb from McIntyre Butchers delivered to us in Sussex. I wonder why you feel the need to buy from Morrison’s?”
A fourth added angrily: “Why would you promote a supermarket?? Thanks to them local butchers and veg shops have been a dying breed.
“They have ruined local shops. They also screw the farmer down to the last penny.”
“2000 sheep on your farm and you buy it lamb from Morrisons? come on Amanda we all love you and your family, don’t spoil things,” said a shocked viewer.
While others picked up on the fact she was promoting a Sunday dinner with her son Miles, 15, dressed in his school uniform.
An eagle-eyed fan asked: “Why is miles in school clothes on a Sunday ?”
There were others though who spoke up for the TV star who is often dubbed The Yorkshire Shepherdess.
One of her supporters wrote: “So many ridiculous comments on here, unbelievable
”
Another added: “Let’s face it if anyone was offered a contract to advertise lamb for a supermarket you would have your family sitting around the dinner table for Sunday lunch even if it was Wednesday after school, before the ink had dried on the contract.
“Amanda is a shrewd businesswoman looking to the future.”
