Payback: Everything You Need to Know About the New ITV Drama

A star-studded cast

ITV's highly anticipated crime drama Payback is set to hit our screens soon, and it comes with an incredible cast. Morven Christie takes the lead role as Lexie Noble, a woman caught up in a police operation surrounding money laundering. Christie is joined by esteemed actors Derek Riddell, who plays DCI Adam Guthrie, and Prasanna Puwanarajah as DC Jibran Khan. The cast also includes Cal Morris, Stephen Mackintosh, Grace Chilton, Steven Miller, and Rori Hawthorn.

A gripping plot

Payback follows the story of Lexie Noble, a woman living an idyllic family life in the suburbs of Edinburgh. Little does she know, her husband Jared (played by Cal Morris) has been laundering money for crime lord Cal Morris on a massive scale. Financial investigators DC Jibran Khan and DCI Adam Guthrie, portrayed by Puwanarajah and Riddell respectively, are determined to use the Noble family to bring Morris to justice. As the police close in, Lexie finds herself walking a dangerous tightrope between her allegiance to Cal and her own safety.

Filmed in Scotland

While the story is set in Edinburgh, the filming took place in another part of Scotland. Production for Payback began in September 2022, with the cast and crew spotted in Glasgow. Scenes were shot in various locations in the city, including Aytoun Road in Pollokshields.

How to watch

Payback premieres on October 4, 2023, on ITV at 9pm. The series consists of six episodes, which will air weekly on Wednesday nights at the same time. If you happen to miss an episode or prefer to watch on demand, the series will also be available on ITVX and BritBox.
