Zara McDermott's Exit from Strictly Opens Door for I'm A Celeb Appearance
Pete Wicks has made it clear that he won't be giving up his spot on the I'm A Celeb bridge to greet Sam Thompson's girlfriend, Zara McDermott, despite her early exit from Strictly Come Dancing. If Sam is voted out of the jungle series, Zara would now be available to fly to Australia to meet him.
Pete Wicks Stays Loyal to Sam Thompson
During an appearance on ITV's Lorraine, Pete Wicks confirmed that Sam had chosen him to be the one to greet him in the jungle when he leaves camp, and he intends to stick to the original plan. He stated, "Zara could have gone but we obviously thought Zara was still going to be in Strictly. Obviously now she could have gone, but I won't give up my place. Listen, first come, first served."
A Bromance on Display
Pete Wicks and Sam Thompson have been close friends since meeting on Celebs Go Dating in 2018. They even co-host the podcast Staying Relevant together. Their strong bond has been well-documented on Instagram, and Pete and Zara have been supporting Sam throughout his I'm A Celeb journey.

Pete Wicks admitted on Lorraine that he really misses Sam, despite finding him annoying at times. He said, "I didn't think I would, because he really annoys me, but what I've realised is that I do need that in my life and he's my brother and I do miss him." Pete went on to describe Sam's personality, stating, "At the beginning, it's quite annoying. But that's part of his personality and that's part of who he is because he just wants everyone to like him and he just wants everyone to smile so he tries really hard and actually if he was more himself, then people would love him anyway because he's just the best guy."
