Over the past year the telly star has made his opinion on how the government has handled the ongoing coronavirus pandemic very clear.

And today Boris Johnson’s former top adviser Dominic Cummings has faced questions from lawmakers over how they have handled it all.

He has claimed that the Prime Minister was warned by top civil servants about how serious it was, and dismissed it as “the new swine flu”.

Over the course of the day Piers has taken to Twitter to show his disappointment over the revelations.

Piers said that the “govt needs torching” after Cummings’ testimony

Piers wished he was on GMB tomorrow to voice his opinion

“Wish I was on TV tomorrow morning. The Govt needs torching after this #Cummings testimony,” Piers wrote in one tweet.

However Brits will know that the controversial journalist infamously stormed off the set of GMB after he was slated by co-star Alex Beresford for his comments towards Meghan Markle in her royal bombshell interview.

After six years co-presenting the breakfast programme alongside Susanna Reid, Piers decided to quit.

Shortly after he resigned 120,000 fans signed a petition for him to make an epic return, and two months on a lot of them still feel the same way.

The telly star has hinted he could be going back

One fan replied to his tweet with: “The whole nation wish you were on TV tomorrow morning Piers. Perhaps GMB can invite you on as a guest presenter for the one day. That would be amazing.”

And the telly star has suggested that it could be on the cards.

Piers replied: “It would.. and I’m still technically under contract to present @GMB…”

Many of his followers were excastic with the idea.

Piers questioned how Prime Minister Johnson can survive such a “damning testimony”

Piers didn’t hold back on Twitter

One said: “My week would be made if you did! Worth getting up that early for.”

Another wrote: “Just turn up for work then… ;).”

A third added: “All in favour…say hell yeah.”

A fourth pleaded: “@GMB LET HIM DO IT!”

Fans of GMB want Pires back to give his opinion on the testimony

Giving bombshell evidence at the select committee today, Cummings claimed that Johnson should have been “hitting the panic button” earlier than he did.

He admitted that he and the PM “failed” the UK by not putting us into lockdown earlier.

The PM’s ex-aide also said that March 2020 was like an “out of control movie,” describing it like “a scene from Independence Day”.

He also said that Health Secretary Matt Hancock should have been fired “about 20 times” for “lying to everybody on multiple occasions”.
