SHOCKED Dermot O’Leary told a This Morning fan to “get off the phone” after a dad-to-be called into the show while his wife was in labour.
The 47-year-old presenter was visibly baffled that Krishan had chosen to call the ITV programme’s help segment with Deidre Sanders at this critical time.
Introducing the viewer, Dermot read out the headline of what he wanted help for, sharing: “My wife is in labour how can we, let’s call it how it is Krishan, how can YOU stay calm?”
Krishan chuckled as he was heard over the phone, telling the hosts: “Absolutely, it’s such an exciting time but I’m bouncing off the walls!”
Offering advice, Deidre reminded him: “The really important thing to remember Krishan is it’s about her and the baby, not you.
“Be supportive, remember it is about her so don’t try and give her advice, just say: ‘I’m there for you, I love you, you’re doing brilliantly’.”
Alison agreed, echoing: “Just be there.”
As a fellow dad, Dermot offered some additional advice, sharing: “Drink it all in, my friend – it’s just the most wonderful, wonderful moment so both of you enjoy it.”
Alison asked Krishan to explain the “situation” as it currently stood, with the excited fan revealing that they are not yet at the hospital.
He said: “We’re at home, we’ve just moved into the lounge and my wife has gone on the ball to do some stretching.
“We’ve got the snacks ready, and hospital bags ready – things are slowly intensifying, it’s such an exciting time.”
Dermot laughed as he urged Krishan to go and focus on his wife, telling him: “Krishan, it’s great to have you with us and good luck, I’m glad you called in… But maybe get off the phone?”
Krishan was in high spirits as he hung up, promising that he’d keep the This Morning stars posted on his new bundle of joy.
