Who is in the Squid Game season 2 cast?
On June 17, 2023, Netflix announced the returning cast members for Squid Game season 2.
Reprising their roles from the show’s debut are:
- Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun, Player 456
- Lee Byung-hun as Front Man, the Squid Game’s overseer
- Wi Ha-Joon as Hwang Jun-ho
- Gong Yoo as the salesman and Squid Game recruiter
The new cast members include:
- Yim Si-wan
- Kang Ha-neul
- Park Sung-hoon
- Yang Dong-geun
“It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever,” showrunner Hwang Dong-hyuk stated in a letter to the program’s fans.
He further teased details about season 2 by revealing the returning cast members and said: “Join us once more for a whole new round.”
What is season 2 about?
Squid Game 2 picks up from the point where Hwang Jun-ho discovers Front Man is his own brother.
After Front Man shoots Jun-ho, his fate is left uncertain.

Based on season 2’s casting announcement, fans have guessed he survived the ordeal.
The program’s executive producer Kim Ji-yeon told Tudum: “I know that a lot of the different fans and audiences have enjoyed the series very much but really we’re focusing on how to make it even more joyful to the global audience.
“We are working on the script right now and making the form of the story.
“But there’s definitely a lot of pressure on how to make [Season 2] even better.”

Squid Games 2’s premiere date is to be announced at a later date.
The show’s first season is available to view via Netflix.
In anticipation of the second season, Dong-hyuk shared with the Associated Press: “So there’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice!
“But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently.
“Gi-Hun will come back and he will do something for the world.”
