The Bay spoilers: Lisa Armstrong dealing with ‘s**t sandwich’ of losing home, her toxic ex and a demotion in series 2

THE Bay’s Lisa Armstrong is dealing with a ‘s**t sandwich’ in series two after losing her home, her toxic ex and suffering a demotion.

The character – played by Morven Christie in the ITV drama – found herself suspended from her role as a family liaison officer after she concealed evidence around the death of a teenager.

Series two sees Lisa return to work, but in a demoted role, which has a knock on effect with her finances and being able to afford her house.

Speaking to The Celeb Report’s TV Mag, Morven said: “She’s in a really precarious financial position, she’s had to move out of her house and into a flat because she’s been demoted and is on probation so she’s not allowed to work as a FLO, she’s doing community policing.

“It’s all very tricky and I think in that particular work environment, police don’t think much of each other when somebody goes against the rules.

“I think that’s a big thing for Lisa, trying to gain back respect from her peer group, her work group, because she was very respected and really good at what she did, so she’s in a really difficult position.

The team face a new case but Lisa isn’t allowed to be as hands on as she would like

“She’s trying really hard but it’s really tough for her.”

To make matters worse, Lisa’s toxic ex – played by Joe Absolom – arrives on the scene.

Morven said: “It’s a bit of a s**t sandwich. In a weird way it’s the one thing in the beginning she has a definitive answer on – she’s like, absolutely not, go away, this is not being entertained.

“Although it becomes more complicated further along in the series because of the history of their relationship, it was really complicated and toxic and addictive.”

Lisa also has to deal with her ex arriving on the scene when she is at her lowest ebb

She continued: “It happens when she’s at a really vulnerable point, him coming back, if it had happened a year or two ago she would have been much stronger.

“But shes’s so vulnerable at this point because everything is up in the air, that he catches her when she’s weak.”

The Bay series two returns tonight at 9pm on ITV.
