FANS of The Great Pottery Throw Down 2022 were left blushing during last night’s episode of the competition.
Remaining contestants in the Channel 4 programme were tasked with one particular challenge which left them in hysterics.
Back in early January, 12 new potters embarked in the The Great Pottery Throw Down in the hopes of being named the ultimate pottery champ.
Over the last few weeks contestants have taken their challenges seriously – but one, which took place in last night’s instalment, was too hilarious for them to keep a straight face.
During the episode, the potters were told to create 10 identical handles using the pulling method, before attaching the handles to mugs.
To demonstrate the challenge, Florian Gadsby was brought in but, while contestants were impressed, their childish minds took all of their attention away from the master ceramist.
The social media sensation showed them how to “pull” a handle and, soon, the segment was packed with innuendoes as Florian used “one wet hand” to perfect the pulling.
Florian didn’t help ease the laughter as he advised contestants to “make sure it doesn’t come off too soon.”
Actress and host Ellie Taylor was left covering up her face with her hand, unable to stop laughing.
Channel 4 viewers at home were also crying with laughter.
“I just straight-up wouldn’t be able to do this handle-pulling challenge for laughing,” wrote one viewer on Twitter.
A second reacted: “Can’t believe this filth is on before the watershed.”
“Apparently I’m a big kid because I’m howling at the Pottery Throw Down,” penned a third user.
Another commented in disbelief: “People are w**king bits of clay on my TV. It’s a Sunday for goodness sake!!!”
“This turned smutty quickly,” added another viewer.
Although it brought a lot of laughter, the challenge was a stepping stone, bringing one contestant closer to victory.
It was eventually won by retired NHS therapist Lucinda, who created a set of perfect mug handles.
The 58-year-old from Shropshire was crowned champion of handle pulling and referred to her victory as “bonkers.”
All contestants of The Great Pottery Throw Down are hoping to make it to the final, due to air on March 14, 2022.
The Great Pottery Throw Down airs weekly on Sundays on Channel 4 at 7:45pm.
