The Repair Shop guest breaks down in tears over treasured doll she received while in a children’s home

THE Repair Shop viewers were left in tears when a guest brought along a treasured doll that she had received decades ago in a children’s home.

The toy restorers completely transformed the tired doll

The guest explained that the doll was given to her while she was growing up in a care home.

Host Jay Blades asked what the small porcelain style doll meant to her.

Marcia said that she had shared several precious memories with the toy named Diana.

She explained: “It was given to me as a Christmas gift as a child when I was in a children’s home and I was four at the time.

“I loved it because it was brown like me,” she laughed.

Jay replied: “Yes, you don’t often get dolls that are brown I must say!”

Marcia was given up when she was a baby, along with her twin brother Graham.

The guest explained that her mum was not in a position to care for them due to work committments.

Over the years, the doll had become worn and tattered, resulting in a broken limb and a broken voice box.

Marica was hoping for the toy to be restored to its original appearance.

Later on in the episode, Marcia returned to the workshop to see how the doll has been transformed.

Jay asked if Marcia had missed Diana, with Marica replying: “Yes, there’s been a space where she should be.”

Jay remarked: “You want her back home don’t you?”

“Yes, because she’s been with me for a very long time,” Marcia said.

The toy restorers were excited to reveal their handiwork to Marica, who was desperate to see the finished product.

Once the cover was lifted, Marcia immediately burst into tears as she took her first glance at the restored doll.

Marcia was lost for words as she continued to sob, while covering her face with her hands.

She whispered: “Thank you! Oh, wow… Oh, she’s got booties on!”

How does it feel holding her?” Jay asked as Marcia wiped away her tears.

She confessed: “Very nice. I feel like I’m four years old again.”

BBC One fans were an emotional wreck after watching the heartwarming segment.

One wrote: “Oh @TheRepairShop you know how to make me cry! That lovely lady with her doll.”

Another posted: “Always end up in tears! Happy tears though, because it is so wonderful seeing these people having treasured items repaired and brought back to life. #TheRepairShop”

“#TheRepairShop emotional tonight, the beautiful doll restored was fabulous and the suitcase was a nice touch. I’m sure her owner will cherish Diana for many years,” a third shared.

A fourth added: “Just caught up on #therepairshop and I’m in bits. Marcia’s doll was just beautiful.”

The Repair Shop airs Wednesdays at 8 pm on BBC One.
